At the halfway point of the Fore Play & Bob Does Sports Internet Invitational, one of its participants, Paige Spiranac, pointed out just some of the backlash that she has received in the midst of the inaugural event to her 4 million Instagram followers.

On the heels of the tournament's third episode, shared to YouTube on Nov. 3, Spiranac revealed a jarring direct message she received, posting a screenshot of its foul comments to X, formerly Twitter, and her Instagram Story. She then followed-up with an emotional sentiment on the latter.

Spiranac began a trio of Instagram Stories on Monday by expressing her gratitude to her fanbase, who she noted has been sending her “very kind messages” following the exposed note. “I don’t normally do this, but this hate for some reason [has] just been really hitting home for me,” the content creator continued. “I’ve struggled socially my entire life. I’ve struggled in big groups of people, making friends, keeping friends, relating to other people, reading social cues, saying the right thing at the right time.”

She added, “I know that might sound weird, considering, like, what I do, but I’m just not, like, effortlessly liked ... it’s just hard for me in big groups of people.” The SI Swimsuit model then detailed that she initially felt “really psyched” for the two-week plus long tournament, which commenced on Oct. 27 and wraps on Nov. 13. It is broken up into six segments, all posted to YouTube, which release twice weekly on Mondays and Thursdays.

“I know there’s more important things in life than wanting to be liked, but I do want to be liked and I want to fit in, and I’ve tried for a lot of my life to find places where I can fit in. And when I was at the Internet invitational, I felt really good,” Spiranac explained through tears. “... It’s just hard because you feel good in that one moment ... and then it’s like, just kidding. Everyone hates you.”

However, Spiranac’s spirits seem to have shifted this morning, as the former professional golfer shared a smiling selfie to X, which she fittingly captured on the green. Coupled with the snapshot, the content creator penned “Only smiles from now on” before she concludes the Invitational's second week in action on Thursday, Nov. 6.

Per its site, the prize money on the line following the tournament’s conclusion comes out to over $1 million—an Oct. 31 X post disclosed that the number is $1.7 million—as well-known golf personalities vie for the competition’s top spot.
