Pregnant Blake Lively Is Glowing During Adorable Speech Honoring Ryan Reynolds
Blake Lively is a proud wife. She gushed about her hubby, Ryan Reynolds, in a speech as part of the evening honoring him as the latest recipient of the American Cinematheque Award.
The Deadpool actor and Gossip Girl star are expecting their fourth child together. Lively’s growing baby bump was on full display on stage at Los Angeles Beverly Hilton on Nov. 17.
“Art, heart, philanthropy, humor, integrity, unmatched work ethic, grace,” she listed as some of her husband’s best characteristics. “So many of those stunning qualities came from his homeland, Canada, and giving back to the country that gave him his life is critical to who he is as a person. It was essential to keeping him grounded, to keeping him sane, to keeping him, him.”
Reynolds, 46, moved from Vancouver to L.A. at the age of 20 to pursue an acting career. He dropped out of school and made the leap without telling his parents.
“I called them from a pay phone,” he told GQ. “I remember it very distinctly. And I told them I was in Los Angeles. I told my father I’d been there for two months. He hung up on me.”
Reynolds and Lively, 35, share three daughters—James, 7, Inez, 6, and Betty, 3.
“Now I am his home and our girls are his home,” she continued. “And just like that 19- year-old boy, he races home. Whether it’s from across the globe or a meeting across the street, he is hardwired to get home. If he came home from set not in his wardrobe, we would be very concerned. Soaked in mud, fake blood, real blood, prosthetic scars, superhero suits, tap shoes or clown makeup—Daddy always comes home.”
Lively debuted her bump on Sept. 15 at the Forbes Power Women’s Summit and later posted an Instagram photo dump to break the news.
The American Cinematheque Board annually awards “extraordinary” contribution to the art of motion picture. The Thursday night event commemorated some of Reynolds’s work in segments titled “The Comedian,” “The Sexy Man,” “The Serious Man” and “The Smart Ass” and a roster of close friends and co-stars gave speeches to celebrate the Free Guy actor.
“Anyone who knows me knows how much I love an evening devoted entirely to me,” Reynolds jokingly said as he accepted the award, and added it to his collection which includes three MTV wins and three People’s Choice awards.
Will Ferrell, Hugh Jackman, Octavia Spencer, Helen Mirren, Salma Hayek and Shawn Levy spoke on behalf of Reynolds, echoing Lively’s sentiments.
“That man races back to his real life like nothing I have ever seen, especially not by someone who is able to be so all-in in his work life,” she added. “He’s able to somehow be everything to everyone all at once; he is the most present person you will ever meet. And yes he creates magic in his work, but man oh man does he create magic in his real life.”
