Following closely on the heels of her epic Super Bowl LVII halftime show performance earlier this month, Rihanna will take the stage again live during the Oscars on March 12.
The nine-time Grammy Award winner will perform “Lift Me Up,” her track off the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack, during the awards ceremony. The exciting announcement came directly from The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Thursday.
“Lift Me Up” is nominated for Music (Original Song), among four other tracks from films including Tell It Like a Woman, Top Gun, RRR and Everything Everywhere All at Once.
Rihanna already has enjoyed an eventful year, and it’s just the end of February. She used her time on the Super Bowl stage to not only perform a 13-minute compilation of her greatest hits, but to also subtly announce her pregnancy. After the show, her rep confirmed that she and her partner, A$AP Rocky, are expecting their second child.
Days later, British Vogue’s March 2023 issue dropped, featuring RiRi, her partner and her son as the magazine’s cover models. In an accompanying cover story, the Fenty Beauty founder opened up about her music career.
“I want to have fun. I haven’t done this in a minute and I’m doing this for the people that love my music, the people that have supported me and gotten me to this place in my career,” she told the publication of her Super Bowl performance. “And who miss me as a musician in particular. It’s me really just getting back onstage—a crazy stage to be back on—but I’m really doing this for my fans.”
The 95th Academy Awards will be held on March 12 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. Comedian Jimmy Kimmel will return to serve as host for the third time.
