Sailor Brinkley-Cook has an amazing teacher in her mother, model and entrepreneur Christie Brinkley who has graced hundreds of magazine covers throughout her illustrious career, including three consecutive SI Swimsuit covers.

As a business mogul, Brinkley is the founder of Bellissima Prosecco, a line of organic sparkling wines. So when it comes to professional advice, Brinkley-Cook has a go-to source for guidance.

In a recent interview with People, the 2018 SI Swimsuit rookie and Sacred + Devine home decor founder unveiled the best career-related wisdom she’s ever received from her mother.

“Her biggest advice when it comes to being on a set would be just to be as gracious as you can. I always try and introduce myself to everyone in the room. And I always try and acknowledge everyone in the room,” she told the outlet. “Because I mean, my job is almost pretty much the easiest.”

The 24-year-old also noted that her mother, who just turned 69, has encouraged her to always “acknowledge my surroundings,” have fun with the team she’s working with and, above all, be respectful.

Brinkley-Cook is a three-time SI Swimsuit model who recently partnered with Silk Nextmilk for a campaign that playfully mimics her mother’s “Got Milk?” ads from the mid-90s.

More than 40 years after her magazine debut, Brinkley returned to SI Swimsuit in 2017 at the age of 63 to pose alongside both of her daughters, Brinkley-Cook and Alexa Ray Joel. Read more about her three back-to-back SI Swimsuit Issue covers here.
