Simone Biles has been in the public eye for over a decade, when her career in elite gymnastics commenced in 2011. She was only 14 years old at the time. Now 28, Biles has spent over half of her life in the spotlight, with a fanbase that has witnessed the 11-time Olympic medalist achieve a number of milestones—in and outside of the competitive sport—in real-time.

However, there is still some information about the Houston native that has always been unavailable on the internet. That is, until now.

At the end of October, Biles—who also graced the pages of SI Swimsuit in 2017 and 2019—posted a near two-minute long TikTok video to her 5.5 million followers on the app. In the video, Biles sported an abstract long sleeved dress that showcased various shades of burgundy, and gave her followers a closer look into her life with a few “fun facts” while taking off her makeup.

Of the admissions, which included the confirmation of three plastic surgery procedures and her initial ambition for a professional career in nursing, she also dropped a couple specific items that quickly sent fans to the post’s comment section. “I didn’t watch movies growing up,” the gymnast disclosed as one particular detail.  “I’ve never seen The Wizard of Oz, never seen The Notebook, The Sandlot, Forrest Gump.”

She continued, “This one is going to pi-- a lot of people off, but I never did my own laundry till I moved out and I didn’t know how to use a dishwasher either.” Later in the video, she also briefly touched on her marriage to Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens—whose voice could be identified in the background of the casual clip. She elaborated that her husband of two years is actually “only [her] second relationship” ever.

With the post came over 380 comments, as of Nov. 4. Some users sent in burning questions for Biles, while others expressed that her experiences were, perhaps, more common than the gymnast originally anticipated.

“Okay but did you watch make it or break it,” one commenter penned. The television drama series follows a group of adolescent gymnasts and aired for three seasons from 2009 to 2012. Biles confirmed in a reply to the user that, in fact, she did tune into the program.

“I never did my own laundry until I moved out too,” another user posted in alignment with Biles’s sentiment. The standout gymnast responded, “See I’m just like y’all fr.”
