Sofia Vergara Has Strong-Worded Response to Kelly Clarkson’s Comments About Her ‘Griselda’ Makeup
Sofia Vergara transformed into Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco for her role in the upcoming Netflix series Griselda, created by the same team that produced and wrote Narcos.
The Modern Family star appeared on an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show and chatted with the TV host and country music singer about the series, which is out today on the streaming platform.
The American Idol winner suggested that there wasn’t that much of a difference between Vergara’s natural look and Grisleda’s face, and the America’s Got Talent judge was not happy about it, but she laughed the remark off and took it like a champ.
“This is incredible, I feel like they only changed your nose or something,” Clarkson, 41, began.
“WHAT?” Vergara, 51, immediately responded, stunned. “Are you crazy?”
“No, I’m saying whatever they did, it was slight. You know what I’m saying. When you look at you...” the three-time Grammy Award-winner tried to explain.
“No, Kelly,” Vergara interrupted in her own defense. “It was hours [in the hair and makeup chair]. It was a wig. Shut up. It was a wig. It was a lot. They did a lot to me, it was teeth, it was [a lot of] plastic.”
“Here’s what I’m saying,” the mom of two clarified. “It probably took time, but the slight change completely changed your being. They did such a good job, that it looks seamless. You literally look like you could just actually be [Griselda] in other movies. You could have two careers. You look like you’re a different actress playing the role.”
Vergara began to understand Clarkson’s sentiments, laughed and nodded.
The hilarious exchange, posted on Clarkson’s show’s official Instagram account, is quickly going viral.
“You two together !!! Great stuff !!!” one fan commented.
The six-episode drama miniseries is loosely inspired by the real story of Griselda Blanco’s journey from Medellín to becoming “the Godmother” of Miami's drug empire, and one of the most profitable cartels in history. Netflix described her as a “queenpin. innovator. mother. killer,” in an post of the trailer.
