The New Year is always a time of contemplation, and actress Sophia Bush is getting a bit introspective on her version of 2023. The One Tree Hill star took to Instagram on Jan. 2 to reflect upon her past year, which she noted both “humbled” and “broke” her.

“This year put me back in my body. I left it a long time ago, in such a way that I forgot what it felt like to inhabit my own skin,” Bush noted in her caption. “I feel my whole self from the tops of my ears to the tips of my toes now. It’s breathtaking. Life giving. Affirming.”

The Fashionkind cofounder went on to share that she learned to listen to herself, free herself of expectations and focus on honesty. Bush, who filed for divorce from husband Grant Hughes in August after a brief 13-month marriage, also noted that she rediscovered her inner voice and picked up her daily writing practice again in 2023.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you to this life for teaching me,” Bush concluded. “Thank you, thank you, thank you to this year that changed everything.”

Plenty of the 41-year-old actress and activist’s 4.5 million followers felt inspired by her reflections, which they noted in the comments section.

“You’ve captured gratitude in words- perfectly,” Paulina Porizkova noted. “Your beauty, depth and wisdom are so evident in your voice and your words. What a talent. Thank you. And give us more.”

“This is possibly the single most beautiful thing I’ve read all year on this app,” Elaine Welteroth added. “Thank you for such an intimate, beautifully written share rich with medicine. You and your words are a gift. ❤️.”

“Forever proud of you, my lady. Xxx,” Hilarie Burton cheered.
