Sofia Richie just broke the news that she is pregnant with the sweetest, super on-brand black-and-white maternity pics and an accompanying Vogue spread. But, first, she announced the info to her parents and in-laws in the sweetest, most fitting way.

The fashionista, who is known for her neutral, timeless and sophisticated quiet luxury personal style, and her husband, Elliot Grainge, got married last April in the South of France. The 25-year-old, who is the daughter of legendary singer-songwriter and record producer Lionel Richie and fashion designer Diane Alexander, told all four grandparents-to-be they were expecting when she was around eight-weeks along.

“We went to Elliot’s parents, who live about five minutes away from us, and I think I had a box—I want to say it was a Hermès box or some sort of box—and I told everyone that I had bought them a gift from Milan Fashion Week,” Richie shared. “Everyone was like ‘Ooooh Hermes!’ But then they opened it and it had all three of the pregnancy tests. That’s how we told all of our parents. Watching their reaction go from like, ‘I’m about to get an expensive present’ to like ‘I’m about to get a grandchild’ was really sweet.”

The media personality revealed on TikTok that she’s expecting a baby girl, and fans were obsessed with how simple and intimate the moment, shared with just her and Grainge, was. She had her obstetrician share the secret with her assistant, who then gave them a party popper with pink confetti to launch in their backyard.

The model also elaborated on why she and the 30-year-old music executive knew they wanted to wait several months before making the announcement public.

“Pregnancy is really scary and you want to protect that space,” she explained. “I didn’t realize there are so many milestones you have to hit and so many tests you have to take. For me, it was really important to protect our mental health and our space as a couple.”
