Taylor Swift’s 2009 Dating Criteria Resurface, Seem to Align with Traits Found in Travis Kelce
An old Glamour cover story featuring Taylor Swift from 2009 has resurfaced on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) recently, and we can’t stop thinking about how the singer might have manifested current boyfriend Travis Kelce into her life.
When the magazine asked a then 19-year-old Swift what a relationship would look like to her, she had a response at the ready.
“It’s always going to be long-distance, even if I date the boy who lives next door to me in Nashville. I’ll be flying to see him and flying him places to see me,” she responded. “It feels like it would involve more scheduling, and I already deal with a lot of scheduling in my life. Of course, if I met somebody who was worth it, I would probably stop thinking that way.”
While the Kansas City Chiefs player is hardly the “boy next door,” and rather the most famous tight end in the NFL with two Super Bowl rings under his belt, he certainly is busy, but makes time to hop on flight for his girlfriend—and vice versa. Swift, 34, regularly travels to Arrowhead Stadium to watch Kelce, also 34, play.
The reporter also asked the Pennsylvania-born musician if she would need to date someone at a similar level of success.
“I think it’s more a question of confidence. I wouldn’t want to be with a pushover who would let me make all the plans and have all the control. It’s really natural for me to go into planning mode, but I’d rather be with someone who has his own voice and passion and ambition,” the 12-time Grammy Award winner said.
Kelce certainly checks off all those boxes and more. Swift further echoed those statements of needing to date someone with a similar level of passion and ambition as her in 2017’s “End Game,” featuring Ed Sheeran.
“Ooh, you and me, we got big reputations... / Ooh, you and me, we’d be a big conversation, ah,” she wrote.
If that’s not manifestation, we don’t know what is.
