When the regular 2026 WNBA season tips off next month, Angel Reese will be suiting up for a new squad. The forward, who was selected by the Chicago Sky as the No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, has been traded to the Atlanta Dream.

The Sky traded Reese to the Dream in exchange for 2027 and 2028 first-round picks, as well as a 2028 second-round pick swap.

Following this morning’s announcement, the 23-year-old LSU graduate took to Instagram to share a snapshot of herself in her new team’s threads, along with a bittersweet goodbye to her fanbase in Chicago. Reese grinned in a red Atlanta jersey with No. 5 on her chest in the first snap, while her post concluded with a roundup of footage from her time on the court in the Windy City.

“To the city of Chicago,” Reese stated in a voiceover. “You showed me real love from day one. Thank you Chicago, always Chi-Town Barbie.”

“An Angel’s DREAM💭! 🅰️TL WHAT UP?! @atlantadream,” Reese captioned her April 6 carousel.

Plenty of Reese’s 5.2 million followers on the platform chimed into the comments section to share their excitement over the news.

“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH,” rapper Latto gushed.

“Yeahh I’m there 😍❤️,” track and field athlete Masai Russell exclaimed.

“ATL BARBIE ❤️,” Las Vegas Aces assistant coach Nola Henry stated, perhaps hinting at a new nickname for Reese, which several other followers echoed.

“CANT BELIEVE THIS IS REAL,” one fan declared.

“STOP!!!!!! LETS GOOOOOOOOOO,” another user remarked.

“We all look so good in red ❤️❤️,” another commenter observed.

Reese departs Chicago after two seasons with the Sky, where she averaged 14.1 points per game, 12.9 rebounds per game and 2.7 assists per game throughout her career with the team. Despite her success on the court with the Sky, it appears that the professional athlete couldn’t be more excited over her move to the Dream.

“I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity to join the Atlanta Dream organization,” Reese said in a statement put out by the team earlier today. “I’m focused on continuing to grow my game, competing at the highest level, connecting with the fans and giving everything I’ve got to the Dream.”

The Dream will play its first preseason game against the Sky on Thursday, April 29, making for an interesting matchup. Following more preseason play against the Washington Mystics on May 3, the Dream will play the Minnesota Lynx on May 10 for the team’s first regular season game before facing off against the Las Vegas Aces for the squad’s first home game of the season on May 17.
