Melissa Wood-Tepperberg knows that she’s on the right career path. She knew it two years ago when she hosted her first live event. Admittedly, “When I stepped foot on that little stage, I felt at home,” she said in a recent Instagram post of her foray into live teaching.

But that doesn’t mean she’s satisfied with sitting back and being complacent. She wants to be a workout and wellness leader “forever,” but she also wants to do more. “I love to challenge myself and continuously focus on my soul’s evolution of purpose & growth,” she wrote. “And I think it’s important to stimulate our brains in many different ways.”

So, Wood-Tepperberg knows she wants more. But the wellness practice that helped her learn that she could achieve more was a surprising one. “Mastering my mind in the cold plunge truly taught me that I can do really hard things and come out on the other side even stronger than I ever thought was possible. That cold plunge I hated so much, taught me that you can do ANYTHING in this life you put your mind and energy towards. What you believe to be true, is going to become your living breathing reality.”

The cold plunge is what proved to Wood-Tepperberg that she could—and should—embrace public speaking. So, she did just that. She recently gave a keynote speech at an event hosted by Snapchat, which was a way for her “to tap into [her] own inner strength” and encourage others to do the same.
