This New Kayla Itsines Ab Workout Is Designed to Sculpt Your Midsection

If Australian fitness instructor Kayla Itsines is labeling a workout routine as “intense,” you can pretty much guarantee it to be true. She’s a professional trainer, after all, and working out is quite literally her occupation.

That is to say, when she released her latest core workout, which she called “intense abs,” we had no doubt that it would be a real burner. Itsines has a penchant for crafting the best routines that thoroughly work the area of the body that they promise to tone, and her latest is no exception.

The set is composed of three to five rounds of seven exercises, all designed to target and burn your core. Here are the moves:

  1. Plank rotation (5 reps per side)
  2. Bent leg jackknife (10 reps)
  3. Side plank and oblique crunch (10 reps per side) 
  4. Heel tap (30 reps)
  5. Sit-ups (20 reps) 
  6. Single-arm and leg jackknife (10 reps per side) 
  7. Bicycle crunches (10 reps per side)

As she does with all of her routines, Itsines demonstrated the set in an Instagram clip designed to be saved and followed the next time you hit the gym or your at-home mat.
