When it comes to building an active lifestyle, workout and wellness leader Melissa Wood-Tepperberg not only stresses the importance of daily movement, but likewise of fueling yourself properly. The best way to get the energy that you need to achieve all of your goals, whether they are exercise-oriented or not, is through the food that you nourish yourself with.

To stress this, in the caption of a recent TikTok clip, the MWH founder wrote, “if you’re not taking in th[e] proper nutrients your [body] needs to thrive - you’re missing the most essential ‘ingredient’ of all.” For her, this means ensuring that she is fueling herself before and after workouts, in particular.

Wood-Tepperberg has favored one nutrient-rich and sustaining go-to snack in recent months for post-workout recovery. The smoothie is “packed with fiber [and] protein to help keep you fuller longer and fuel your body with so much energy,” she wrote in the Instagram post where she shared the recipe. “This one gives you a real boost.”

Below is the refreshing and nourishing smoothie recipe that she has been “making on repeat.” Try it out for a pre-workout snack, or like Wood-Tepperberg, enjoy post-workout.
