Waiākea Hawaiian Volcanic Water is Committed to Sustainability and Community

The brand is going far beyond simply offering some of the purest bottled water on the market.

Waiākea is reimagining hydration from the inside out by using volcanic filtration to produce natural alkaline water filled with essential electrolytes and minerals. Founded in 2012 as the first super-premium water of its kind, the brand since has taken an unmatched route—not only by producing healthy and sustainable products, but also in its ethical attributes and initiatives.

Waiākea is based just outside of the town of Hilo, Hawai’i, where rich and bio-diverse forest preserves abound. This unique environment allows for water, which begins as rain and snowmelt atop a volcano, to slowly filter through thousands of feet of porous volcanic rock, re-emerging at the surface as crisp and refreshing alkaline water.

Thanks to this process of volcanic filtration, Waiākea naturally has alkaline with a pH range of 7.6-8.2, containing a handful of essential minerals that are key in supporting a healthy body.

Beyond great-tasting water, Waiākea is also committed to sustainability through the entire production process from sourcing to packaging. Rooted in the belief that we are responsible for protecting and conserving the environment and its resources, Waiākea bottles less than 0.003% of the water yielded at the slopes that feed the brand’s aquifer.

In addition to diligent sourcing, Waiākea also utilities 100% recycled bottles (one of the only bottled waters to use high grade rPET, which uses less energy and water to manufacture than virgin plastic bottles) as well as aluminum, which is infinitely recyclable.

In the past 10 years, the brand introduced the world’s first Oceanplast bottle and launched community-focused initiatives.

Waiākea’s in-house Kokua Initiative is a program focused on giving back to the people of Hawai’i by encouraging educational opportunities, conservation, sustainability and support.

With the help of Pump Aid, Waiākea donates one month of clean water to those in need in Malawi, Africa, for each case of water purchased.

In addition to water, Waiākea sells coffee products, including various ground roasts and ready-to-drink coffee. You can find Waiākea products at major retailers such as Whole Foods Market, Walmart, Stop & Shop and more, or shop directly online at
