Sydney Sweeney Appeared in These Beloved Shows and Movies—and You Didn’t Even Realize

Before she became a household name, the actress appeared in multiple well-known titles.

Sydney Sweeney has made a name for herself in Hollywood and beyond since rising to fame through her role as Cassie in HBO’s Euphoria. Starring in blockbusters, independent films and television, she’s cornered several markets and shows no signs of slowing down. The 27-year-old Washington native also launched a production company called Fifty-Fifty Films in 2020, serving as a producer on several of her films.

Whether she’s acting in a blood-drenched horror movie, a swoonworthy rom-com or an action-packed Marvel project, all eyes are constantly on Sweeney to see what’s next.

And trust us when we say she has a lot on the way. Still to come this year, she will star in the film adaptation of Freida McFadden’s best-selling book The Housemaid, as well as the untitled Christy Martin biopic, portraying the famous retired boxer. Like other long-running broadcast series, many actors of this generation started their careers with roles in Grey’s Anatomy. Sweeney appeared in one episode of the beloved ABC drama, which is still going on today, playing the daughter of a patient in season 11. Her character, Erin Weaver, accompanies her father to the ER for what he initially believes to be heartburn but is actually something much more serious.

Pretty Little Liars

Like Euphoria, Pretty Little Liars is another teen drama that had the nation absolutely hooked when it was on air. The Freeform show follows a group of high school girls who begin receiving mysterious messages after their friend goes missing. Though Sweeney did not have a major role, she did appear in the series finale, which is pretty notable. Her character, Willa, is part of Addison’s clique at Rosewood.

The Handmaid’s Tale

In an expanded role compared to the last two mentioned, Sweeney appeared in seven episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale season 2. In the role of Eden, her character is married off to Nick (Max Minghella), though she falls in love with the new guardian, Isaac (Rohan Mead), and tries to run away with him. As a result, the pair is sentenced to death. The Hulu show just concluded its sixth and final season this year.

Sharp Objects

The acclaimed limited series Sharp Objects only went on for a season, but we’re still reeling from how disturbing it is. The HBO show follows a troubled reporter who returns to her hometown to investigate a string of murders, only to find out the unimaginable. Sweeney appears in seven of the eight episodes as the character Alice. She is protagonist Camille’s (Amy Adams) roommate at a psychiatric ward.

Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood

Among the group of up-and-comers-turned-stars in the cast of Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood are Austin Butler, Margaret Qualley, Mikey Madison and, yes, Sweeney. The 2019 dramedy takes place in 1969, following TV and film productions leading up to the Manson Family murders. Sweeney portrays one of Manson’s followers, a young woman nicknamed Snake, based on the real-life Dianne “Snake” Lake.

In the years since appearing in these widely known titles, Sweeney has gone on to scoop up starring roles and has been nominated for two Emmy Awards. Her most recent film, Apple TV+’s Echo Valley, just started streaming on June 13.
