Sydney Sweeney Gives ‘Cosmopolitan’ Her Latest Love Life Update: ‘I Don’t Actually Need a Man’

The ‘Euphoria’ actress scored a front-page spot on the publication’s spring issue, revealed on Jan. 29.

Sydney Sweeney seems to be embracing her single status at the start of 2026. The 28-year-old actress—who was spotted several times with music producer Scooter Braun throughout the latter half of 2025, following her split from Jonathan Davino that spring—recently shared with Cosmopolitan that she’s still getting comfortable with her solitude before jumping back into another partnership.

“I’m still figuring out love, and it’s hard to do that with millions of people who have their own opinions of what that looks like,” The Housemaid star told the publication, as part of her cover story for its spring issue. Her front-page image—revealed on Instagram on Wednesday, Jan. 29—showcased the SYRN founder in an all-magenta ensemble as she smiled for photographer Morgan Maher’s camera lens.

“At the same time, for all of my 20s, I put my head down and focused on work—and now I want to experience things. But it’s hard deciding that I want to experience love in the public eye,” she continued.

Sweeney later detailed some standout traits when it comes to her ideal partner, specifically describing “athletic and outgoing and funny” guys tend to catch her eye. However, when it comes to the spotlight, the actress noted that a potential partner will have to meet her where she is at.

“Look, I am a boss in my life. I take control. I go after what I want. I am confident, and I am successful, and I don’t actually need a man. I’ve got myself,” Sweeney told the outlet. “I’ve got an incredible group of girlfriends. I’ve got a team of badass women. That is very intimidating to a lot of guys, so a guy needs to be able to stand in that with me. It takes a very specific person who can handle the world that comes with me.”

Following four recent feats in 2025—Echo Valley, Americana, Christy and The Housemaid—Sweeney will return to HBO’s Euphoria as Cassie Howard for its third season, slated for an April 12 release. In addition, PEOPLE reported that the actress “is set to return as Millie” inThe Housemaid’s Secret. On Jan. 6, Deadspin disclosed that the sequel is in the works. The Housemaid’s Secret is the second novel in the three-part series written by Freida McFadden, who will executive produce the film.
