New York Fashion Week always delivers endless style inspiration. With collections that range from simple, everyday uniforms to out-of-the-box and loud designs, there is much to see. With fall now knocking on the door, we have rounded up four trends to help plan your spring wardrobe, but also to incorporate into your closet right now.

Contents

  1. Micro Bottoms
  2. Off-Kilter Necklines
  3. 3D Blooms
  4. Sheer Lace Dresses

Micro Bottoms

Michael Kors spring-summer ’24, LaQuan Smith spring-summer ’24, Carolina Herrera spring-summer ’24 and Sergio Hudson spring-summer ’24.

Over the last year, celebrities including Bella Hadid, Kylie Jenner, Hailey Bieber and others have been seen wearing barely-there bottoms, close to (if not) underwear. Now, the “no pants trend” has been elevated from the street to the runway with designers LaQuan Smith, Sergio Hudson, Michael Kors, Luar, Staud, Ulla Johnson and many more debuting fashion-forward micro bottoms in their spring-summer 2024 collections.

If you are daring enough to embrace the skin-bearing trend, we have two pieces of advice: first, we recommend to do so with some urgency as the warm weather won’t last forever, and second, we recommend styling the bottoms (or lack of) with an oversized blazer, button-up or chunky knit on top to help balance the outfit and make it more wearable.

Knit Panty, $185 (calledelmar.us)

The Knit Panty by Calle Del Mar comes in a wide array of colors, all with matching cardigans and tops. The fabric is thick and lightly compressive, making them feel more secure than normal underwear. These are a great option to substitute for shorts to experiment with the trend.

High-Cut Cheeky Short, $160 (charworkroom.com)

Many metallic styles were also spotted at NYFW and these shorts are the perfect combination of the two fads. Crafted from 100% non-stretch vinyl with a satin lining, these shorts offer structure and comfort.

Off-Kilter Necklines

Tory Burch spring-summer ’24, Sergio Hudson spring-summer ’24, Prabal Gurung spring-summer ’24 and Collina Strada spring-summer ’24.

In addition to a slew of strapless styles, the NYFW runways exhibited many looks bearing asymmetrical necklines that made for both flattering and innovative silhouettes. A not-so-average neckline is a fun and simple way to enhance any look.

Maples Long Sleeve Top, $88 (revolve.com)

This heather grey ribbed option can seamlessly be added to any fall wardrobe.

Cass Black Linen Asym Midi Dress, $179 (dissh.com)

The Cass Asymetrical Midi Dress can be dressed up or down and is great for the transition of seasons.

Out From Under Love Hurts Asymmetrical Off-The-Shoulder Top, $35 (urbanoutfitters.com)

Available in four colors (ivory, black, pine green and pink), this style is fitted and cropped at the waist.

3D Blooms

PatBo spring-summer ’24, Ulla Johnson spring-summer ’24, AKNVAS spring-summer ’24 and Colin LoCascio spring-summer ’24.

Spring and summer are nearly synonymous with florals, and the spring-summer 2024 NYFW runway shows confirmed this. With rosette appliqués already popping up this past summer, the trend of three-dimensional floral details is here to stay. That being said, don’t be afraid to don the textured additions in the cooler months too, from sequined to ruffled to life-like, you will be sure to turn heads.

Reformation Emerald Knit Top, $128 (thereformation.com)

Made of stretch knit fabric, this style by Reformation is form-fitting with ruching details.

Collection Rosette Slip Dress in Luster Crepe, $298 (jcrew.com)

This limited-edition slip features a large rosette that is removable, allowing for a simple or statement look.

Strapless Flower Top, $90 (shopbop.com)

Playful styles can still be elegant, especially when in black or dark hues.

Sheer Lace Dresses

Eckhaus Latta spring-summer ’24, Mirror Palais spring-summer ’24, Kim Shui spring-summer ’24 and Michael Kors spring-summer ’24.

Sheer dresses are simultaneously feminine and edgy and the style was seen on many NYFW runways, now favoring lace. All you need is a pair of underwear and a bra that you aren’t afraid to show off and you’re good to go.

Beverly & Beck Allover Lace Midi Dress, $59.95 (pacsun.com)

This Beverly & Beck dress is flirty and delicate, featuring sheer fabric and scallop trimming.

Lady Lux Maxi Slip, $88 (freepeople.com)

Boasting a boat neckline and fitted sleeves, this number is great for layering or being worn alone. Try layering this style over a body suit or even a pair of trousers with a bra for a relaxed and more covered-up look.

Sheer Things Maxi Slip, $128 (freepeople.com)

This romantic slip has a billowy silhouette and beautiful lace paneling.
