Doja Cat wore a truly unforgettable look to last month’s Schiaparelli Haute Couture spring 2023 fashion show for Paris Fashion Week. For a quick refresh, the “Need to Know” singer covered her entire body in 30,000 red Swarovski crystals.

The ensemble was so remarkable that SI Swimsuit model Haley Kalil emulated the iconic outfit for Vogue’s New York Fashion Week party. She documented the process in a series of Instagram posts this week.

Kalil started with a teaser before unveiling her full look, which she achieved with the help of makeup artist Samantha Jaymes.

“I have always wanted to try an outlandish, out of this world look for NYFW… and after seeing @dojacat in Paris Fashion Week rocking her iconic red look by artist @patmcgrathreal, I knew I had to try it!” the four-time SI Swimsuit model wrote in her caption.

Kalil added that her makeup team used the exact same number of red crystals to achieve the dupe, which required Kalil to sit in the makeup chair for nine hours. Designer Marc Bouwer created a custom strapless red dress with sequins and fringe for the occasion, and Kalil nailed the look right down to the red boots, wrap and chandelier earrings.

“Stepping out at the @voguemagazine NYFW party in this look was invigorating!!” Kalil continued in her caption. “Everyone should wear something this crazy at least once in their life!! 👏🏻.”

The model’s friends and fans were floored by her dedication.

“SO DOPE!!!!!” fitness influencer and SI Swimsuit model Katie Austin commented. “This is so much effort as a creator and I respect it SO MUCH👏👏👏.”

“god ur so ICONIC,” gushed Jess Val Ortiz.

“Wow !!! This is dope,” added SI Swimsuit model Ally Courtnall.

Kalil then documented the hilarious process of removing all 30,000 gemstones from her body post-event. Eventually some micellar water, makeup wipes and a shower did the trick—for the most part.

“This is why we don’t make manic decisions, Haley,” Kalil joked. “Why do I do the things I do?” After removing most of the makeup, she declared the outfit her favorite look of all time and quipped that her skin had never felt softer.
