Kate Hudson Is ‘Back in Business’ in Trendy Girlboss Brown Midi Dress

Kate Hudson is officially back in boss mode—and Isla Gordon is coming with her.
The actress turned heads on the red carpet at the Running Point FYC Emmy event in Los Angeles on May 30, where she rocked a moody chocolate brown midi dress and matching heels. But it wasn’t just her trendy corpcore ‘fit that garnered excitement. In an Instagram post from the evening, the 46-year-old shared love for the popular Netflix series ahead of season 2.
“Back in business” she captioned a carousel of photos from the event.
Hudson opted for a sleek, structured look for the occasion—a rich high-neck brown midi dress from SHUSHU/TONG Studios, featuring an exaggerated bow detail at the front, and a sharply tailored silhouette. Styled by Marc Eram, the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star paired the feminine yet powerful number with tortoiseshell peep-toe pumps and dangly gold statement earrings.
Her hair, styled into a voluminous high half-pony by Marcus Francis, added a playful touch, while her makeup, courtesy of Debra Ferullo, was all about the glow: bronzed, shimmery lids, wispy lashes, a pop of rosy blush and a glossy pink pout.
In the cover snap from her Instagram carousel, Hudson lounged in the Warner Bros. locker room, sitting casually with a Running Point jersey draped behind her and a basketball branded with the show’s title in hand. The next shot was a candid action pic as she tosses the ball in the air while standing outdoors, with Lakers signage and a hoop visible behind her.
The mom of three then shared some snaps from the red carpet. Hudson posed solo, letting the dress and glam shine, before linking up with her on-screen brothers—played by Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur and Justin Theroux—for a fun family shot. She also included a sweet moment with co-star and on-screen bff Brenda Song and Mindy Kaling, who serves as a co-creator on the buzzy Netflix series.
“🔥❤️❤️ love the show so much,” Molly Sims commented.
“You are so cute,” Kaling added.
“Absolutely loving this show!! 🙌🏽 A badass, woman-run basketball team bringing all the fun!!!!” Erica Joy exclaimed.
“MVP vibes all day ❤️🔥🏀,” Fabrizio Guido wrote.
“Queen of the court 👑🏀,” Warner Bros. TV chimed.
“slam dunk!,” Lauren Santo Domingo declared.
The first season of Running Point premiered on Netflix on Feb. 27, and quickly became a fan-favorite thanks to its clever writing, hilarious ensemble cast and Hudson’s standout performance as Isla Gordon, a reformed party girl-turned-president of a fictional pro basketball team. Season 2 was officially greenlit in March.
