Knowing what to throw on in for an outing in early fall can be difficult. Between the cool, crisp mornings and the warm, sunny afternoons, a day in mid-October makes for the kind of outfit anxiety that plays to our indecisive sides. Do you opt for a mini dress or skirt and hope that the day warms up quickly, or a pair of jeans and a jacket and hope that temperatures don’t get too high?

Model Pia Wurtzbach is teaching us a thing or two about autumn streetwear, and we’re grateful for it. According to her and her recent Instagram post, the key to seasonal dressing is striking the perfect balance between warm and cold weather clothing. Opt for a longer piece on top and shorter on the bottom, or vice versa. The Filipina model sported a lightweight knit sweater overtop a tank, which she paired with a mini denim skirt and sneakers for her fall afternoon out.

“Sneaking in my step count 🤪👟,” she captioned the Oct. 9 Instagram photo featuring her casual, but cute outfit.

The look featured enough coverage to keep her warm, but not too warm for an afternoon of higher temperatures. The addition of her in-style pair of dad sneakers and tall white socks proved the look perfect for an October afternoon of walking the city. We will certainly be taking a page from Wurtzbach’s book on fall afternoons to come.
