We Still Can’t Get Over Rihanna’s Dreamy Sheer Set That’s Redefining Maternity Wear

Rihanna has been showing the world her unique take on maternity wear ever since she became pregnant with her first child, RZA Athelston Mayers. Now, with her third child on the way, she exhibits her elevated sense of style once more with a gorgeous gown perfect for moms-to-be as well as for the global premiere of the 2025 film Smurfs.
The “Kiss It Better” singer took a trip to Brussels, Belgium, for the global premiere of the upcoming movie. Her wardrobe for the blue carpet consisted of a matching Columbia blue ensemble. She wore a babydoll lingerie rose top with a solid bralette infused with a lace fabric that made up most of the garment. At the hem of the top were feathers to add a tad more dimension. As for the bottom, she rocked a trailing floor-length skirt with matching feathers.
Matching blue pointed shoes were a no-brainer for this fashionista, creating a monochrome look that was extremely easy on the eyes.
Last but not least, Rihanna opted for a simple yet sophisticated hairstyle and makeup look. Her black hair was half-up, half down while proving that curtain bangs will never grow old. As for her glam, the Fenty Beauty founder knows how to slay a soft vibe that delivers fairy princess glamour. Soft eyebrows, neutral eyeshadow, rosy cheeks and a dark brown overlined glossy lip all came together to make a flawless look.
As seen with this breathtaking two-piece look, Rihanna is not a stranger to lace. She utilizes this classic, feminine fabric in her outfits often, especially when it comes to maternity wear. She previously explained this fashion choice is a “revered” staple in women’s clothing.
“When I stepped out, I was like ‘Oh, my God. Is this where I cross the line as a pregnant lady?’ I already wasn’t in maternity clothes and doing whatever I want. But that day, I was like, ‘Whatever, I’m late. Just let’s go,’” the 37-year-old multihyphenate expressed about her pregnancy fashion last year, referencing the black lace dress she wore to the 2022 Dior autumn/winter show.
“Lace is something that women have always revered for hundreds and hundreds of years as something special; something for special occasions,” she added. “That’s not my lifestyle or my reality anymore. I don’t want to be sheltered from lace. I want to be able to still wear it and have it be realistic in my lifestyle. Everyday. Under a T-shirt. Under my jeans. Those are the things that get uncomfortable with lace when they’re so rigid. And I just wanted to combine cozy and sexy at the same time.”
It’s safe to say that Rihanna nailed the cozy and sexy look once more with this sheer lace ensemble, proving once again that she is exercising her creative mind and redefining maternity wear every step of the way.
