Anne Hathaway Hopes ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ and ‘Barbie’ Have This in Common

The Devil Wears Prada 2 hits the big screen in just under three months, but one of its leading ladies, Anne Hathaway, is already envisioning what theaters may look like following the film’s release.
The sequel film comes two decades after its 2006 predecessor, The Devil Wears Prada, and is largely comprised of the same cast, led by Hathaway (who plays Andrea “Andy” Sachs) and Meryl Streep, who stars as Miranda Priestly. More returning actors include Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, who will join a handful of new faces to join the franchise, like Bridgerton's Simone Ashley and The Sex Live of College Girls's Pauline Chalamet.
“I’m hoping everybody dresses up and goes to the movies,” Hathaway told Vogue in a Feb. 1 feature, which aligned with the release of the movie's full trailer. “I hope people remember how much fun they had wearing hot pink and going to see Barbie,” she continued, referencing the 2023 Greta Gerwig film. “I’m hoping that everybody puts on their favorite Miranda Priestly-approved outfit and just has a blast.”
However, Hathaway, 43, is not the only star of the film who has spoken out about the heightened anticipation for the long-awaited sequel.
Blunt, who plays Emily Charlton, prefaced Hathaway’s sentiment by telling the publication, “All of this attention and obsession with the quick consumption of this movie before it’s even out … in many ways is emblematic of how our industry and our lives have changed.”
