Fans Are Calling Kelly Clarkson ‘Mother Christmas’ After Her Spectacular ‘Underneath the Tree’ Live Performance
Kelly Clarkson truly is the gift that keeps on giving, especially with her holiday music. The American Idol winner performed a rendition of her 2013 Christmas track “Underneath the Tree” on NBC’s Christmas at the Opry show, which aired on Dec. 7. The famous song was released on Clarkson’s sixth studio album and first Christmas album, Wrapped in Red, and is always a radio hit during this time of year.
The 41-year-old donned an off-the-shoulder black gown featuring a cinched waist and super voluminous tulle skirt. She paired the dress with black heels, hoop earrings, a smooth blonde blowout and a red lip. She belted every lyric with perfection, wowing the audience, especially with the super high final note, which she obviously nailed.
“thank you @kellyclarkson for giving us our Christmas anthem. ❤️🎄 watch #ChristmasAtTheOpry again on December 20 9/8c on NBC and streaming now on @peacock,” NBC captioned a joint post with the artist.
“Kelly Clarkson just gets better and better,” Alex Goldschmidt commented.
“that’s mother christmas,” a fan noted.
“One of my favorite Christmas songs! And can we mention how fabulous she looks!! ❤️❤️,” another exclaimed.
“I love Kelly, I’ve followed her since Idol. She just keeps getting better & what a power house 👏❤️,” someone else chimed.
“I’m not a huge Xmas song person but man, I’d listen to 10 albums front to back with Kelly singing them. Gets better by the minute! ❤️,” one person gushed.
The talk show host sings covers of other artist‘s songs so well that many people forget how incredible her own music and songwriting skills are. Like one X (formerly Twitter) user said, “Kelly Clarkson can sing ANY SONG and sound better than the original singer, that’s her song now.”
