Lindsey Vonn and Coco Gauff Are the Power Duo We Never Knew We Needed at ‘TIME’s’ Women of the Year Awards
You can always find Lindsey Vonn at a high profile event. The former professional alpine skier is very involved in everything from professional sports to culture, and her attendance record at the biggest events confirms this to be true.
Whether she’s standing sidelines at the Las Vegas Grand Prix or attending Art Basel in Miami, she seemingly loves the chance to interact with fellow greats: athletes, celebrities, etc.
Which is all to say, when she showed up at TIME magazine’s Women of the Year Awards on March 5, we weren’t exactly surprised. Nor were we surprised to see the photos of the former pro posing alongside Coco Gauff, the 19-year-old professional tennis player and one of this year’s award honorees.
Vonn had nothing but appreciation for the chance to stand among (and beside) some of these incredible women, who are fittingly being honored at the start of Women’s History Month. “Wow!! What a night celebrating the most bada-- women in the world!!” she wrote in an Instagram post from the evening. “Sports, science, activism, art and music, all represented and used as a conduit for women to make change. I feel stronger and more inspired just being in the same room with them.”
It was a powerful celebration to be sure, and a fitting event for Vonn herself to attend. Though she may not have been an honoree, the Olympian’s very own foundation, The Lindsey Vonn Foundation, does incredible work to help the next generation of female athletes succeed. Which is to say, the event certainly gathered together a group of very strong women.
