Today, Forbes announced its “Top Creators 2023” list, a group of 50 people who the magazine has deemed the highest-achieving social media content creators this year. The list is replete with “stars turning followers into fortunes,” according to the Forbes piece that announced the list.

The group is full of familiar faces, who have made a name for themselves through their social channels. Among the number of influential individuals is LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne, who Forbes coined “TikTok’s million-dollar tumbler.” The star certainly has built a name for herself over the years, turning her gymnastics talent into content creation with a devoted following. It is the same following—which has reached over 12 million on Instagram and TikTok combined—which has been instrumental in her NIL success.

Dunne has secured countless brand deals since the signing of the NCAA legislation that allows athletes to profit off of their own names. Most notably, the 20-year-old has had now long-standing partnerships with clothing brands Vuori and American Eagle.

It was the same ability to harness her social media following for brand deals that brought her to the October cover of Sports Illustrated. In a piece all about money deals in college athletics, Dunne was touted not merely for her ability to secure her own deals, but also for her commitment to securing deals for her fellow LSU Tigers. Her creation of The Livvy Fund—the means by which she connects other female athletes at her school to their own brand deals—was another factor that earned her a spot on the Forbes list.

But, at the end of the day, Dunne’s success is due, in part, to her discerning nature. She won’t sign just any brand deal. “My audience can detect if something isn’t authentic,” Dunne told Forbes. “My core values have to align with a brand.” Both her discernment and authenticity combined with her outstanding business acumen throughout the past year makes her a good fit for the high-profile list.
