Late last month, Paris Hilton and her husband, entrepreneur Carter Reum, became parents when they welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Phoenix.

Hilton recently opened up to Glamour UK about her public persona, her activism and life as a new mom. She also revealed why she chose surrogacy as a means to motherhood.

The media personality said she relied on Kim Kardashian for advice regarding surrogacy, and Hilton and Reum ultimately had 20 embryos frozen during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 42-year-old shared that previous trauma has led her to be fearful of “even being in a doctor’s office,” which is one of the reasons she opted for surrogacy.

“When I was in The Simple Life, I had to be in a room when a woman was giving birth and that traumatized me as well,” she added. “But I want a family so bad, it’s just the physical part of doing it. I’m just so scared… childbirth and death are the two things that scare me more than anything in the world.”

Hilton shared that she is embracing this new chapter of motherhood and just wants to live a “normal” life with her family.

“I’m so obsessed with my little angel and when he looks into my eyes, I just melt,” she gushed of Phoenix. “He’s such a good baby.”

Hilton promoted the exclusive interview and accompanying cover story photographs in a Feb. 23 Instagram post.

“This is one of my favorite interviews I’ve ever done and definitely the most open I’ve ever been,” she wrote. “I felt so safe and comfortable being vulnerable and letting my guard down for this interview and I’m very grateful for that 🥺.”
