Simone Biles Speaks Out on Celebrating Women and Girls in Sports Ahead of Bears Victory

The Chicago Bears coupled their Week 12 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Nov. 23, with an extra special initiative. The franchise hosted a Celebrating Women and Girls in Sports Game at their home stadium, Soldier Field, and tapped one of their most famous fans—and a record-breaking athlete, herself—to share some words of wisdom ahead of kickoff.
The highlighted heroine, of course, was Simone Biles. The most decorated gymnast ever—who is also married to the team’s safety, Jonathan Owens—chatted with Bears reporter Jasmine Baker about the campaign while sporting a graphic tee that celebrated the occasion.
“I think it’s really important,” Biles told Baker of the dedicated game. “It’s a groundbreaking year for women in sports, and women in the world in general, so it’s so unique. It’s so fun [to] bring everyone together, especially on a day that the Bears are gonna take a win,” she quipped.
As if Biles manifested the outcome, her prediction came true. The Bears finished the Sunday afternoon matchup with a 31-28 victory to extend their record to a whopping 8-3 and continue their reign at the top of the NFC North. However, before she headed to stands to cheer on her beau, Biles touched upon the most memorable moments of athletic career with Baker and concluded their convo with an uplifting sentiment.
When asked for advice she’d give to other female athletes—specifically on making their passion their profession— the gymnast responded, “I would say, dream big and dream bigger after that, ‘cause you never know where your career will take you.”
For Biles, her career has taken her across the globe and etched her name into the history books. The 28-year-old notched 11 Olympic medals (seven gold) in three global games (Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024). In addition, Biles also has 30 World Championship medals to her name, making her the winningest gymnast ever in the competition. Per NBC, she also holds 9 U.S. all-around national titles, the most-ever, and is the “only American gymnast to win a world medal on every event.”
The Bears posted the conversation to Instagram as commenters cheered for Biles’s brief interview. “That’s my Goat 🐐,” one commenter penned. “🙌🙌Love this! And I want that shirt 🔥,” a fan exclaimed. “our lucky charm 🫶🏾 love you queen,” another user gushed.
The team will head east to Philadelphia later this week to face the reigning Super Bowl Champion Eagles on Friday, Nov. 28, at 3 p.m. ET.
