SI Swimsuit rookie and body neutrality advocate Sixtine Rouyre recently took to TikTok to share an empowering stance on diet culture.

The 25-year-old model’s video came in response to a user comment after an individual wrote, “Are you aware that ‘diet culture’ is not addressing you personally, is not a living thing and you’re choosing to think about it.”

In a nearly two-minute video clip, Rouyre shared instances of diet culture, from parental influence to societal pressures and more.

“Diet culture is hearing, ‘Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels,’ before you’ve even reached puberty,” Rouyre said. “Diet culture is, ‘Oh, mom’s not eating the same thing as us, she’s on a diet.’”

The model is often outspoken on her platforms, including Instagram, about unrealistic body expectations and beauty standards portrayed in the media.

“Diet culture is looking up all the measurements of the Victoria’s Secret Angels after the show because those are the measurements you need to reach to be beautiful,” Rouyre continued. “Diet culture is the endless magazines in the grocery checkout line telling you how to lose weight fast, and how to get your perfect summer body in six weeks.”

After completing her list, Rouyre ended her segment with a bold statement addressing her commenter: “But you’re right. Diet culture isn’t addressing me directly. It’s only being shoved down our throats from the moment we are born until the moment we take our last breath.”
