These Throwback Clips of Lindsey Vonn Ski Racing Have Us Thoroughly Impressed
Skiing season is upon us, and we have the professional greats on our mind. Among them, of course, is former professional skier Lindsey Vonn, a household name in the world of professional ski racing. The athlete saw several big performances and even bigger wins (including three Olympic medals) during her lengthy professional career.
Some of those incredible performances and wins took place at Val-d’Isère in the French Alps. The official account of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup, the alpine skiing world championships, shared a montage of Vonn’s best moments in the small French town in a recent Instagram post.
In the clip, the 39-year-old proved just how fast she really was in her prime, and we are thoroughly impressed. “#Throwback to @lindseyvonn 🇺🇸 the most victorious skier in @valdisere with 7 wins over 12 years, including 4 in Downhill, 1 in Super G, and 2 in Super Combined,” the account wrote in the caption. Let’s relive those amazing moments together!”
Vonn’s record on the slopes more than speaks for itself, but the clips served as a nice reminder of how exciting the professional icon was to watch.
Though she officially retired from the sport in 2019 due to a series of injuries, the athlete declared herself excited for the upcoming ski season in a recent Instagram post. She may not be taking to the race course like she once did, but we’re sure she’ll hit the slopes for some recreational skiing—and will look far better than we ever could while she’s at it.
