Madelyn Cline gave a very candid answer to a red carpet question about love and relationships, and we can’t stop thinking about it.

The 27-year-old actress—who is best known for her roles in Outer Banks and the 2025 reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer—has spent the last several weeks on a press tour for her upcoming film, The Map That Leads to You.

Based on the novel by J.P. Monninger, the Prime Video film tells the story of a woman whose vacation to Europe takes a romantic turn after she forms a connection with a stranger while abroad. Cline stars as the leading lady opposite KJ Apa, who plays her love interest.

Back on Aug. 10, while on the red carpet for the film’s premiere, Cline chatted with PEOPLE. There, she was asked by the interviewer, “What’s the best love advice you’ve ever received?” After a momentary pause for thought, she gave a perfect answer.

“Best love advice? I dunno. Fall in love, don’t be afraid of it,” Cline exclusively told the outlet. She then went on, adding, “Look, historically, I haven’t been, like, the most successful, so don’t take advice from me until I figure it out. But yeah, my advice is don’t be afraid to fall in love.”

This candid answer struck a chord with viewers, as her delivery seemed to be equal parts self-reflective, open and even a little bit somber. And plenty of the talented actress’s fans hopped in the comment section on PEOPLE’s Instagram account to share their support:

“😍👏,” one fan simply said.

“Love is always a journey, not a destination. 💕,” another added.

“That was so good - really honest and authentic. Not tryna put on a phony face. That is the best way to answer ! 👏❤️,” one commenter applauded.

And speaking of “honest and authentic,” the actress also sat down with her aforementioned co-star for a cover feature and dual interview with Cosmopolitan this month to chat about the film, as well as what the magazine described as their “palpable chemistry.”

“I always know that whenever KJ and I are going to be doing something together, it’s going to be an absolute mess and a really good time” Cline told the outlet.

For Apa’s part, the actor noted that he “fell in love” with his co-star “in many ways” while working on the film, adding, “She’s an amazing person. You lean into it because it’s f--king fun, and it’s life, and I like feeling great.”
