‘Love Is Blind’ Season 9 Finale Episode Recap: Which Couples Made It to the Altar?

Love Is Blind—Netflix’s hit dating show that asks if two people can truly fall in love sight unseen—officially wrapped up its ninth season with a single finale episode that premiered on Wednesday, Oct. 22. The one-hour ordeal saw the three remaining couples decide whether or not they wanted to say “I do” after everything they’d been through—and the results were surprising to say the least.

A tumultuous season
As mentioned above, only three couples made it to the finale episode this season. After the pod episodes, six total couples left the initial portion of the Vanessa and Nick Lachey-led “experiment” engaged. However, three of those pairs—Kacie and Patrick, Madison and Joe and Annie and Nick—broke up in the ensuing trials, with Kacie and Patrick not even making it to the Mexico trip.
Meanwhile, Annie and Nick broke up in episode 10 after several disagreements, with Nick ending their relationship before the couples were set to shop for their wedding day attire. Meanwhile, Madison and Joe did make the shopping trip, but Joe’s hesitation caused him to literally flee the suit shop at the end of the episode.
Joe broke things off with Madison in episode 11, and she was heartbroken by the turn of events—especially after Joe couldn’t give her a direct reason as to why. This left viewers with just three engaged couples going into the last episode: Ali and Anton, Kalybriah and Edmond and Megan and Jordan.
A shocking finale
The final episode of Love Is Blind season 9 was a brisk 64 minutes long, which reflected just how few couples viewers had left to root for (for comparison, season 8’s finale was 106 minutes long). Furthermore, the episode began with the couples attending their respective bachelor and bachelorette parties—an event that has received its own entire episode in past seasons—before immediately moving on to the weddings.
Still, there were plenty of twists and turns as each of the remaining pairs made their way down the aisle to reveal their ultimate decisions.
Ali and Anton
Ali and Anton had one of the strongest connections from the beginning—they were quite literally engaged by the end of the first episode of the season. In the pods, they’d bonded over their many similarities, including their upbringings and their past jobs. Once they left the pods for Mexico, their connection appeared to remain strong compared to the other couples; however, as they traveled back to Denver and began living together, potential issues came to the surface.
Ali appeared to be most concerned about Anton’s lifestyle, including his alcohol intake and his friend group’s previous partying. Meanwhile, Anton had concerns about Ali’s spending habits and her reluctance to share household chores. As Ali got ready to walk down the aisle, she chatted with her mom about her choice and also visited with Anton’s mom. She then made her way down the aisle to a waiting Anton, surrounded by their friends and family.
After the officiant read a statement, Anton said, “I do.” However, when it was Ali’s turn, she told Anton, “I can’t be your wife.” After a moment, she elaborated, saying she felt that the person she fell in love with in the pods “wasn’t the person [she’d] gotten to experience in real life.” Ali apologized before walking away with her mother, falling to the ground just outside the venue in tears. Anton was also teary-eyed, but was swiftly comforted by his family.
Kalybriah and Edmond
Next up were Kalybriah and Edmond. Similar to Ali and Anton, the two had a strong connection in the pods based on the similarities they shared. The two started with a fun and playful energy in the pods that carried them through their proposal in episode 3 and their reveal in episode 4; however, things began to shift between them once they reached Mexico and had their first disagreement.
In the ensuing episodes, the two argued several times, with a standout disagreement occurring in episode 9, after Kalybriah overheard Edmond tell another couple she didn’t compliment him enough. Later, she also noted that she felt Edmond presented himself differently when they were off-camera. Still, they reconciled after each disagreement, listening to each other and apologizing.
On their wedding day, Kalybriah was overwhelmed with emotion as she got dressed. Meanwhile, Edmond welcomed a special guest: his fifth-grade teacher, whom he referred to as his “guardian angel.” He then took his place at the altar, and Kalybriah joined him in a lovely gown.
After the officiant finished their preamble, the two exchanged vows, and Edmond said “I do” enthusiastically; however, when it was Kalybriah’s turn, her long pause gave away her answer before she could speak. They both broke down in tears, and Kalybriah reiterated that her “‘no’ doesn’t mean she doesn’t love [him].” She assured Edmond she still cared about him, but was confident in her answer, and the two parted ways.
Megan and Jordan
Megan and Jordan were part of one of the love triangles while in the pods, with Megan interested in both Jordan and Mike. According to Megan, Mike was the type of man she usually went for, while Jordan was the opposite. The two connected over their shared sense of humor and parallels in their lives. After several dates, Megan chose to move forward with Jordan over Mike, with the two getting engaged in episode 5.
They continued to develop their connection in Mexico, but expressed concerns about living together because of their radically different lifestyles. Megan often traveled and enjoyed going out, while Jordan was a father to a young son and worked a late shift. The two had their first big on-camera disagreement at the end of episode 11, with Megan asking for more conversation and banter from him. Meanwhile, Jordan felt Megan wasn’t being compassionate about his situation, and the episode ended with the two at an impasse.
In perhaps the most shocking moment of the entire season, the finale episode ended not with another walk down the aisle, but with a breakup on the couch. After Kalybriah and Edmond’s wedding day footage finished, the show cut to Megan and Jordan’s apartment. The two embraced as Jordan asked her about her day, but Megan immediately revealed that she had woken up at 4:30 a.m. that morning, thinking over their situation, knowing she couldn’t move forward.
She went on to say she felt “like they were two ships in the night. Like two different people,” which Jordan pushed against. After some back and forth, Megan said she felt their lifestyles were too different and she had too many reservations to go through with their wedding. The two cried, shared a final hug and separated. In an interview after the break-up, producers asked Jordan if he had any regrets, to which he answered, “I wish I didn’t introduce her to my son.”
The finale episode ended with a montage of all the couples throughout the season before the credits rolled—officially making this the first-ever season of Love Is Blind to have produced no married couples at the end.
When is the reunion?
The reunion episode will be available for streaming on Wednesday, Oct. 29th at 9 p.m. ET on Netflix. There, the six original engaged couples will be brought together for the first time to catch up and reveal everything that went on behind the scenes.
