As an Elle UK October cover model and recipient of the brand’s “The British Icon” award, it’s safe to say that Florence Pugh knows a thing or two about fashion.

The 27-year-old Little Women star is known for not only her acting prowess, but her refusal to comply with Hollywood standards and incredible self-confidence. In an accompanying cover story with Elle UK, Pugh opened up further about embracing our bodies just as they are, and how she puts that idea into practice.

“I speak the way I do about my body because I’m not trying to hide the cellulite on my thigh or the squidge in between my arm and my boob: I would much rather lay it all out,” she noted, then referenced the backlash she received after wearing a sheer pink Valentino gown that bared her nipples to the designer’s couture show in Rome last July.

“It’s the freedom that people are scared of; the fact I’m comfortable and happy,” she added. “Keeping women down by commenting on their bodies has worked for a very long time. … We need to keep reminding everybody that there is more than one reason for women’s bodies [to exist].”

When Pugh shared the magazine cover image on Instagram on Aug. 30, she received an outpouring of love from many of her 9.3 million followers.

“😍 MOM,” Selena Gomez wrote.

“Can I quadruple like every photo again and again,” Ashley Park inquired. “Your beauty and innards shine thru absolute icon.”

“OUTRAGEOUS 😍🔥🔥👏,” Jameela Jamil added.

“Mother be knowing she is (ICONISM) personified 🙌,” a fan noted.
