Paulina Porizkova never shies away from sharing her candid thoughts on inner beauty or embracing self-confidence with her social media followers.

Earlier this week, the 10-time SI Swimsuit model posted a photo of herself casually rocking a black lingerie set under a cozy red sweater—one that she knit herself. “So this is what almost 58 looks like for me today,” Porizkova wrote in her caption.

While many of the model and author’s one million followers embraced Porizkova’s moment of honesty, a few trolls left nasty messages. Rather than ignore the naysayers, Porizkova clapped back with a follow-up post the next day.

She created a collage of screenshots with some of the negative feedback and accompanied the photo with a powerful message.

Porizkova noted that while many negative comments focused on her needing validation or promoting the objectification of women, she particularly took issue with people who said she doesn’t look like a “typical” woman of her age.

“I’m not trying to represent all women of my age,” she wrote. “How could I? How could anyone? Don’t we all look different and isn’t that where our beauty lies? In our uniqueness?”

Porizkova went on to add that she’s saddened by women who don’t love themselves just the way they are.

“Instead, they will compare, feel wanting and ashamed for not measuring up, and turn around to shame those who made them feel this way,” she stated. “We can all only walk in our own bare feet, making our own unique imprints in the sand.”

Plenty of Porizkova’s followers were quick to support her in the comments section.

“Oh Paulina. Keep shining! I’m sorry your light brings out the darkness in some,” Tara Moss said. “For the rest of us, you bring more light and joy, authenticity and representation to the landscape, and we thank you.”

“These people cannot fix what is broken inside of them by trying to break someone else,” Annika von Holdt added. “You are a rolemodel to many of us. Your humanity, your kindness❤️.”
