Margaret Qualley Delivers Effortless Glamour on ‘Honey Don’t!’ Red Carpet

Margaret Qualley is a prime example of how a simple bodycon dress can make for an attention-grabbing red carpet look, as the actress attended the New York City screening of her latest project, Honey Don’t, this week while wearing a classic item everyone likely has in their closet.
Simplicity was the key when it came to the actress’s latest ensemble, as she flaunted her stuff in a black mini dress. The shape of the piece was form-fitting yet sleek, creating a silhouette that was as clean as it was elegant. To give the outfit a more modern vibe, she added a cute pair of black open-toed heels with a square-shaped front.
She brought everything together with dazzling diamond earrings and a slick hairstyle. Her barely there makeup—consisting of a rosy pink lip, neat eyebrows and fluffed eyelashes—also earned some bonus style points.
But Qualley is not only capturing the attention of photographers on the red carpet; she’s also capturing the attention of film buffs everywhere with her amazing performance in the 2025 title.
In Honey Don’t, Qualley stars as Honey O’Donahue: a private investigator in charge of uncovering the mysterious death of Mia Novotny. The only evidence she has to go off of is a peculiar ring found on the body, so she follows all the leads, hoping it will provide answers. Little does she know that the ring will lead her to a religious cult led by Reverend Drew Devlin (played by Chris Evans)—a devilish wolf in heavenly sheep’s clothing.
Qualley nailed her performance, but the process took a little trial and error, as the character’s unique suaveness wasn’t achieved by the actress overnight.
“[I wanted] to be a little more suave than I am, more mysterious. I tend to want to diffuse things before they even happen,” the 30-year-old told i-D. “[Whereas] Honey, she’s like honey—she’s skillful, she’s smooth, she is slipping in and out undetected.”
Still, Qualley believes detective work comes naturally not only to her, but to most women, as women tend to do more research to get the answers to their burning questions—especially regarding their partners or a potential love interest. Safe to say, those hours spent lurking on Instagram paid off for her performance.
“No girl needs to be taught how to be a detective. Women know what’s happening even when they don’t know what’s happening. I remember in my early twenties, especially, my investigative skills on Instagram were really out of control. It’s a combination of tools, craft and gut instinct,” Qualley added.
And the actress clearly cherishes this character to a great extent—so much so that she stated in the same interview that she’d be “offended” if she didn’t get a chance to return to the role should the creators choose to do future installments. With this in mind, her performance in the crime film promises to be praiseworthy.
Honey Don’t officially debuts in theaters on Friday, Aug. 22.
