Makeup trends may come and go, but eyeliner? Eyeliner is forever—especially when styled like Mikey Madison’s for her stunning cover of Vogue Italia.

The actress’s feature in the magazine included a breathtaking number of show-stopping, high-fashion looks. For the cover image, she wore a casual Dior ensemble consisting of a pale blue button-up and cozy sweater. This combo was elevated further thanks to her makeup look, consisting of neat eyebrows, natural lips and a cat-eye eyeliner so sharp, it could cut someone. Every aspect of her look was effortlessly sophisticated, making this a stylish, easy-to-follow outfit to replicate for the upcoming fall season.

Other looks in her Vogue Italia feature included a majestic white coat with fabric structured to point to the heavens, as well as a David Koma piece designed with a unique form to make Madison look ethereal. Another marvelous ensemble was her Prada dress and Manis de Vapeur hat, as it screamed elegance in a way that certainly didn’t go unnoticed.

But, as grandiose as her outfits in this feature were, the Scream actress actually feels the complete opposite—at least, during this moment in her life.

Following her Academy Award win for Best Actress for her portrayal of Ani in the 2024 film Anora, all eyes have been on her, anticipating another remarkable performance in another great title. Plus, with exciting upcoming projects like The Masque of the Red Death and Reptilia, she’s going to be in the limelight even more. For Madison, all of this is new and exciting; however, the introverted part of her wonders if she can keep up.

“I’m extremely introverted, but I also have a great desire for adventure. It’s a conflict I’ve always felt, but it’s gotten worse lately,” the 26-year-old told the outlet. “I feel like everything around me has changed, and I think this is increasing my need to withdraw into myself. It’s as if I’m now aware of how I’m perceived. I’m not on social media, I never regret missing a party or dinner, but it seems like society forces me to ask myself, ‘Should I do this too to be happy? To be right?’”

She ended her pondering with a mature conclusion, stating, “We pretend to be who we’re not to make others feel comfortable. I think shyness should be considered a form of poetry.”

And Madison being her authentic self is what sets her apart, after all. Still, even she knows the entirety of herself is still evolving. To peel back other layers she has yet to uncover, she desires to play more roles similar to Ani; roles that frighten her due to how different they are from her reality.

“Thanks to Ani, it’s as if Sean Baker pulled me out of the darkness,” the actress added. “I still feel like I’m at the beginning of my career; I feel like it’s time to play characters that terrify me. I need to read a script and be scared.”
