Sequins Ruled the Golden Globes Red Carpet for Margot Robbie, Meryl Streep, Taylor Swift and More Celebs
Sequins are in for 2024, and apparently every A-list celebrity got the memo at the 81st annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, Jan 7.
Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer ruled the nominations, with the latter taking home five awards, including the honor for Best Motion Picture - Drama, Best Director - Motion Picture, and Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama.
While the event itself was exciting and full of trending moments on X (formerly known as Twitter), we, of course, were focused on the fashion and loved each red carpet moment. And, what a great start to the awards season it was! Last night’s entrances featured Hollywood’s latest and greatest stars in tons of color, glitz and glamour.
Here are some of our favorite sequined looks from the night. While they might all be inspired by the same material and style, each look truly brought something unique to the Beverly Hills, Calif., event.
Taylor Swift
We must start with the woman of the hour, of course. The singer donned the most beautiful Tinker Bell green square-neck strappy-back Gucci gown, and fans are now scrambling to decide if it’s a hint at Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version) or Reputation (Taylor’s Version) dropping soon. Swift’s concert film was nominated for the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award.
Emily Blunt
The British actress stunned in a gold Alexander McQueen gown, featuring the most flirty, ethereal sheer tulle skirt. She was nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture.
Meryl Streep
The Devil Wears Prada star, who was nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role on Television, channeled her inner Miranda Priestly in a sophisticated and edgy black sequined blazer and maxi skirt set.
America Ferrera
The Barbie actress flaunted her curves in the most gorgeous silver custom Dolce & Gabbana gown featuring delicate embroidered floral details.
Margot Robbie
The actress dropped another Barbie-approved outfit, and looked like a princess in the hot pink Giorgio Armani Privé number. She was nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.
Julia Garner
The Inventing Anna star opted for something more racy with a magnificent silver plunge-neck gown, and styled the Gucci number with old Hollywood-inspired pin curls.
Natalie Portman
The actress added a dash of color in the most artful way with her sparkly scoop-neck Dior ball gown featuring a beaded flower field-inspired skirt.
Emma Stone
The Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy winner looked perfect in this gold, split-hem Louis Vuitton mesh gown featuring a deep V-neckline, A-line silhouette and modern flower decals.
