Do you have a basic white tee, but don’t know how to style it? We’ve all been there—and fortunately, Shay Mitchell has a look that’ll turn your basic top into a fashion-forward mainstay.

“Basics,” but never basic

Mitchell’s latest Instagram photo drop featured the actress and brand founder in a classic white tee and denim bottom combo; however, rather than just letting that be the outfit, she elevated the tried-and-true pairing for a casual yet sophisticated result. Utilizing pieces from the new Lorena Saravia x H&M collection, Mitchell styled the black Chaps-Layered Pants ($139.00) with the T-Shirt with Motif ($49) to create a gorgeous final look that was equal parts basic and beautiful.

Mitchell then topped off her look with a patterned shawl and a gorgeous silver necklace. The Cotton Shawl with Fringe ($79) includes a black and white design with cream tassels at the ends. Both accessories matched the color scheme of the entire ensemble.

At this time, the chaps and shawl featured in Mitchell’s Instagram post are sold out. Still, there are many items to choose from that are just as praiseworthy, including (but not limited to) the Linen-Blend Blouse ($99) and the Flared Slit-Front Jeans ($99). Combining these two pieces results in a casual look similar to the Pretty Little Liars star.

Another option that will certainly work—but gears more towards the feminine side—is the T-Shirt with Motif ($49) and the Draped Satin Skirt ($79). Finish it off with a pair of rustic cowgirl boots, like the Western-Inspired Suede Boots ($269) for the perfect cowgirl cool vibe.

Lorena Saravia x H&M collection

The new collection is Saravia’s love letter to Mexican culture, as well as an act of women’s empowerment. In blending the two, a passion-filled creation was born.

“I really believe that we are part of this new generation of Mexican designers that are offering the world different brands that are really contemporary and really respect Mexican fashion,” Saravia shared with Refinery29. “The legacy that we are creating, and that I have in my family, was a really important part of this story. The DNA of our brand is this powerful woman that wants to make a difference and wants to create a legacy for generations for the rest of time.”

The designer went on, adding, “I come from a large, predominantly female family where each generation strives to empower the next. I see women as multidimensional — they are career-driven, powerful, and possess a kind of magic and an extraordinary strength. My hope is that every woman who wears my designs feels inspired and empowered.”

Safe to say, Mitchell’s styling truly captures the strength and beauty the collaboration aimed for.
