Sydney Sweeney has been dominating red carpet discussions all week long with her many gorgeous press outings for her upcoming drama, Christy; however, her latest look just might be the cherry atop her metaphorical sundae of styles.

Stunning & sheer

While walking the red carpet at Variety’s 2025 Power of Women event on Wednesday, Oct. 29, Sweeney had fans everywhere doing a double-take thanks to her breathtaking Christian Cowan gown.

The piece channeled serious Medieval chainmail vibes, dreamily cascading down the superstar’s frame. The designer gown featured a lace-up back to add further edge, and the unique fabric also gave off the appearance of being moistened, clinging to Sweeney’s curves and cinching at the waist for the perfect hourglass silhouette.

And speaking of the fabric: it was completely sheer, making Sweeney the latest to don one of the most daring autumn gown trends, previously worn by fellow actresses Dakota Johnson and Margot Robbie. Accessorizing further with a pair of droplet earrings, silver pumps, several rings and a dazzling smile, the actress was a pure vision.

Sweeney also showcased her new blunt bob, which was bleached a touch blonder than her typically warm shade. The drastic change suits her, with the textured style giving her tresses plenty of bounce and body. Her glam for the evening was equally stunning, with the actress opting for plenty of pinky hues on her cheeks and lips for a fresh, dewy look.

The Power of Women

As mentioned above, this incredible red carpet moment was the result of the actress being honored at Variety’s 2025 Power of Women event. During the ceremony, she gave a speech, celebrating women’s power “to rise, to fight and to keep believing in [themselves].” She then went on to dedicate the honor to “the ultimate underdog,” Christy Martin, whom she stars as in her upcoming film and who was present for the ceremony.

And this isn’t the only award the superstar has received recently for her role in the highly anticipated biopic, with Sweeney also taking home the Achievement in Acting Award at the 2025 Hamptons International Film Festival and the Spotlight Award from the SCAD Savannah Film Festival. The part was a transformative one for Sweeney, with the actress changing her physical appearance to diappear into the role.

On what she loved most about telling Martin’s story, Sweeney told Variety, “One of the things that drew me to this story was the idea of being able to make a movie that starts, in a way, as a beautiful, wild, underdog sports movie but then starts to shift into something that’s really harrowing and, ultimately, deeply moving.”

Be sure to catch Christy when it hits theaters Nov. 7!
