Sydney Sweeney is leaning into fall fashion—and her new icy blonde bob—with her most recent press tour look. The Christy star stepped out in Savannah, Ga., during the SCAD Savannah Film Festival, where she was honored with the Spotlight Award for her performance in the upcoming boxing biopic set to hit theaters Nov. 7.

While her film continues to generate early award buzz, Sweeney took a moment to serve peak autumn style in a nostalgic, Y2K-coded ensemble styled by longtime collaborator Molly Dickson.

The Euphoria actress donned the Mimchik “Gumdrop Dress,” a plaid wool mini that gave off serious preppy energy with a twist. The strapless silhouette featured cozy twill fabric, a flattering ruched waist and a brown contrast belt detail that framed her neckline and collarbones. She paired it with sheer black tights, knee-high brown suede boots, Miu Miu’s Logo sunglasses ($550) and the Mini Aventure Tote.

The playful yet polished outfit embraced the skin-baring elements the 28-year-old often favors while staying true to the season’s cozier palette and textures. Her glowy skin and confident stance elevated the look into total It Girl territory.

The chop heard ’round the carpet

Of course, the biggest accessory was Sweeney’s freshly debuted bob. The platinum cut—smooth, sleek and slightly flipped at the ends—was created by hairstylist Glen Oropeza and colorist Jacob Schwartz, who used Schwarzkopf Professional products to transform her soft suede blonde into a bolder icy shade.

“Sydney was looking for a change and wanted to have a big hair moment for the red carpet to support her new movie, Christy,” Schwartz told Vogue. “It felt like the perfect time to do something bold... The color really makes her eyes and features pop and complements the cut so well.”

Makeup artist Melissa Hernandez completed the glam with a soft-focus flush, glowing base and glossy nude lips.

Two transformations

Before filming, Sweeney had already undergone a drastic physical shift—gaining over 30 pounds of muscle and training intensely to portray the legendary boxer. “Being able to lose myself to become a vessel for somebody else is my dream,” she told Vanity Fair of the experience.

“This is a transformation,” Oropeza added, noting it’s the shortest the Washington native’s hair has been. “Christy has a lot of underlying tones of resilience, transformation and power. Sydney herself transformed herself for this role, and I wanted to morph her into this updated version of herself in real life. Something new and fresh to close out the rest of the year.”
