These Throwback Photos of Ana Ivanović on the Tennis Court Are so Impressive
The first round of the BNP Paribas Open, also known as the Indian Wells Open, is set to begin Wednesday. In advance of this year’s tournament, former professional tennis player Ana Ivanović is busy reflecting on her time playing on the hard courts in Indian Wells, Calif.
In that vein, the Serbian athlete took to Instagram to share some throwback photos from her time playing in the famed tournament. The carousel included a handful of fierce snaps of the athlete in a purple and green tennis dress, showing her power on the court.
“Some battles you have to fight for yourself and all on your own, but the feeling after you have achieved what you have fought for is indescribable - fight for your dreams 💪🏼🎾,” she wrote in the caption of her post. “Can’t wait for the @bnpparibasopen to fully get going!
Ivanović’s 13-year career featured one Grand Slam title—the 2008 French Open—which helped catapult her to the top of the WTA tennis rankings in June of that year. Prior to her big win at Roland Garros, though, the now-36-year-old had taken the Pacific Life Open, the tournament now known as the BNP Paribas Open, in Indian Wells.
So, she has a history in the Southern California town. We have no doubt, then, that the former pro will be following the results of play closely through the finals on March 17.
