While you may assume six-time SI Swimsuit model Camille Kostek has always been confident, the 31-year-old television personality revealed to us during Miami Swim Week that it hasn’t always been the case.

Kostek uses her platform to preach about self-assurance and self-love, but she wants her many followers to understand that every single one of us has their personal hardships, regardless of how they may present themselves to the world. What matters, according to Kostek, is committing to loving yourself along the way.

“Every single person has their own struggles, and self-love is a journey,” she says. “It’s a journey for reason. It’s constant up and downs, and that’s O.K. Just know you’re not alone and the journey to loving you is a long one, but it’s so sweet when you reach that point. It’s a superpower.”

When she was younger, Kostek didn’t necessarily favor her freckles, a trait she’s become known for as a model. However, learning to love her natural complexion is just one example of how she’s embraced self-love over the years.

“There were no imperfections and everything was just what is perfect in the media's eyes,” Kostek notes of the typical advertisements that she grew up with. “What I love so much about SI is the embodiment of stretch marks and scars and the dimples and [the things] that we can relate to, because realistically, that’s what you're seeing in the mirror. Let’s show it, and let’s embrace it and let’s love that.”
