She noted that consistent movement could have a ‘ripple effect’ in other aspects of life.

As the founder of MWH, a brand dedicated to “making mindful movement accessible and attainable for all,” it is no surprise that Melissa Wood-Tepperberg considers movement an integral part of her life. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that achieving a fulfilling amount of movement each day is feasible, even for the workout and wellness leader.

It makes sense that movement ebbs and flows with our busy schedules—we won’t have the same amount of time each day to give to our favorite exercise regimens (whatever they may be) or our go-to stretching routines. But, according to Wood-Tepperberg, movement is key to strengthening your mind and, thus, important to prioritize as much as possible.

The certified yoga and Pilates instructor has found that recently, she has “been feeling not mentally as strong,” a sensation that has coincided with a decrease in the amount that she has been moving, she said in a Nov. 27 Instagram reel. Wood-Tepperberg has always spoken of the importance of movement, but lately life has just been getting in the way. She revealed that the answer lies in getting back into her routine.

“Some days you have to dig really deep to take care of yourself and put you first,” she wrote in the caption of the post. “I will make a bet with you for those that haven’t moved in awhile, if you can commit to moving your body to strengthen your mind for One day each week…watch how that ripple effect transfers into everything else you do. And one day, becomes two days and then three days and before you know it you created a new track of habits to help you rebuild that track with yourself. We all fall off, but the less we focus on the fall and more on getting back up - things slowly start to change.”

So, if you’ve fallen out of the habit of consistent movement, and have found that you have likewise experienced a decrease in your mental fortitude, take Wood-Tepperberg’s advice and try to recommit to regular movement.
