Madelaine Petsch Channels Y2K Vibes for 31st Birthday Photo Shoot

Madelaine Petsch rang in her 31st birthday yesterday, Aug. 18, with a duo of cakes, a studded tiara and a banner that read, “older, wiser and hotter than ever”—so naturally, we’re obsessed.
The actress, who spent six years on the popular TV drama Riverdale, shared a plethora of festive snapshots on Instagram for the celebratory day. She captioned the post, “31,” accompanied by a pink heart and cake emoji.

“The hottest bday girl,” Petsch’s former Riverdale co-star Camila Mendes commented, while Paris Hilton chimed in, “Happy Birthday love! 😍🎂🥳🩷.” In the post’s 11 slides, the Washington native was all smiles in a trio of ’fits.
For the cover photo, Petsch sported a baby pink corset top—matching one of the cakes adorned with cherries—and a silver tiara. In a second outfit, the actress rocked a satin, lace lingerie look with knee-high sheer socks and clear platform heels. She enhanced the base of the monochromatic ensemble with a “KISS ME IT’S MY BIRTHDAY” graphic tee in the post’s fourth frame.
But that wasn’t the only piece of content that Petsch provided on Monday. Later that day, the birthday girl shared a behind the scenes reel of the shoot, adding, “God forbid a girl has a photo shoot for her birthday.” Lili Reinhart spoke for all of us when she replied, “On the contrary, I’m thanking god for this.”
Petsch’s big day isn’t the only celebratory item on her agenda. In early July, Variety revealed that the actress will star in the film Pretty Babies and at the end of the month, she sat down with MTV to share some details from her latest sequel, The Strangers – Chapter 2, which debuts in theaters on Sept. 26. The second installment of the trilogy debuts over a year after Petch’s leading role in The Strangers: Chapter 1 in 2024.
“We cross-shot them, so we shot all three [movies] at once,” the actress told the media outlet. “I would shoot movie three in the morning and movie one in the evening.”
The actress also noted that the “undertaking” was one of the main reasons why she wanted to be a part of the franchise in the first place, along with being a “huge fan” of Brian Bertino's original 2008 film: “I wanted the challenge. I was like, ’When am I ever gonna get to shoot three movies at once again?’ Like, this will really test my craft, and it did.”
