The Metallic Masterpieces That Stole the Show At The LACMA Art+Film Gala

Our favorite looks in the City of Angels all shared a similar geologic tinge.

On Saturday, Nov 1., the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) hosted a striking slew of celebrities for its annual Art+Film Gala. The event, per the museum’s site, notched close to $6.5 million, and housed some of Hollywood’s most notable names between its doors.

There were a number of familiar faces in attendance that caught our eye due to their dynamic displays—including Elle Fanning’s pastel blue Gucci gown and Ryan Destiny’s ethereal Cult Gaia ensemble. However, a number of styles that reached the top of our list all had one commonality: each one featured shiny, metallic hues. Check out a few of our favorites below.

Before the long-awaited sequel, Wicked for Good, hits theaters on Nov. 21, one of its leading ladies, Erivo, sported a multicolored Schiaparelli strapless gown with a pair of sparking close-toed heels. Fastened on the garment’s back was a tulle train, which moved with the multihyphenate in stride.

Tessa Thompson

In Gucci, Thompson wore a structured embellished gown, which displayed a variety of silver shades. The long sleeve garment also featured a mock neck, which the actress showcased by tossing her hair into a sleek up-do. She completed the ensemble with jewelry of the same shade.

Cindy Crawford

With daughter Kaia Gerber by her side, Crawford donned a slim-fitting Gucci gown, which draped off of her shoulders. The supermodel did not stray from the shade in her entire ensemble, and added more gold accessories—such as a watch and skinny earrings—to finish the look.

Angela Bassett

This Gucci gown, worn by Bassett, was the definition of a triple threat. The long sleeve number was covered in sequins, featured plenty of fringe and exhibited a lime green color that shined on the Emmy Award winner. She wore her hair in a wavy low ponytail and added a pair of statement earrings for the night in Los Angeles.

Vittoria Ceretti

Ceretti stopped us in our tracks in this plunging sequined gown. The halter neck maxi dress dove nearly toward the model’s belly button and was covered in gleaming adornments. She added minimal accessories to the outfit, and opted for stud earrings, a duo of bracelets and a chunky ring.

Demi Moore

Moore is the latest to incorporate a Hollywood trend that takes sheer looks to the next level. Similarly sported by Margot Robbie and Dakota Johnson earlier this fall, the Substance leading lady sported a custom Gucci gown with floral detailing covering its otherwise mesh-like fabric.
