Sabrina Carpenter Shares Flirty BTS Photos From New Music Video ‘Manchild’

Sabrina Carpenter’s newest single is nothing less than a hit, with some fans already saying it gives the same “song of the summer” vibes as “Espresso” and “Please Please Please.”
To give some insight into the lyrics and meaning of “Manchild,” the singer-songwriter took to her Instagram to let her fans in on how writing the song made her feel, along with giving her millions of followers some behind the scenes snapshots from the making of the music video, which premiered Friday morning.
Wearing a gorgeous white long-sleeve button-up top and a pair of pale blue undergarments with lace frills adorning the hem, Carpenter wowed in her ensemble, which felt like a nod to the ‘80s. Her blonde hair was worn in perfectly styled curls, while the striking makeup accentuated her beautiful and soft features even more.
In another photo, the “Feather” singer wore a large coat that extended down her legs. From there, the coat met a pair of high-heeled pumps, which not only gave the five-foot singer some height but also gave her some flair.
As per her caption, this song was something that came out of a “random Tuesday” writing session, which was initially uneventful. But that otherwise mundane afternoon soon resulted in a piece of art that clearly means a lot to her. She went on to say that the tune is also a nod to “the confusing and fun young adult years of life,” which echoed the sentiments she expressed when she first released her Grammy-winning album Short n’ Sweet.
“This just really hits for the girls that have every right to go back to someone who isn’t good for them, and know that those mistakes are absolutely human to make, and repeatedly,” Carpenter told TIME in October 2024 about the album. “The amount of times that we’ve all been with people we shouldn’t be. We either learn it the hard way, or we are a miracle and we end up marrying that person.”
And the relationship woes from Short n’ Sweet appear to continue in “Manchild,” with Carpenter joking in the lyrics: “Oh, I like my boys playing hard to get and I like my men all incompetent.”
These lines may reveal that the singer still has a lot to learn when it comes to finding Mr. Right, but—as she spends time figuring out love on her own terms—the world gets to enjoy the incredible songs that come from her complicated (but fun!) romance journey.
