Go ahead and add “Artistic Director” to SZA’s ever-growing resume! This multi-hyphenate is onto her next exciting new venture, and it’s one her fashionable fans are going to adore.

The singer took to her Instagram account this week to share with her 23.5 million followers that she is working closely with VANS as the first-ever Artistic Director for the shoe brand. Her role entails cultivating a campaign of apparel that fits her unique aesthetic, best described as a blend of ‘90s fashion and streetwear glam. With her position, she sets out to empower through the visions she brings to life, while also encouraging the youth to walk their path unapologetically.

SZA’s passion for the VANS brand is felt through her love of their cozy yet sophisticated low-top shoes, included in their “Knu Skool” collection. The retro-looking shoe comes in many colors, such as green, beige and black—all of which allow the Grammy Award-winning artist to mix and match as much as she desires. It’s no wonder that, in these shoes, she feels liberation.

“In VANS, I feel free!” SZA told to the brand. “I’ve been wearing Knu Skools and other styles for years, they’ve always had an ethos I connect with. As Artistic Director, my mission is to show that joy, community, creativity and fashion are all still intersectional. That humanity, culture and connection are still the access points. I’ve learned that bravery and curiosity are the cures for uncertainty, it’s a lifestyle and Vans champions that spirit. They stand where I stand, and I’m honored to invite a whole bunch of people to stand Off the Wall with us.”

This “side quest” she is currently embarking on will last multiple years, giving her a chance to take her time in innovating an inventive style of shoes that are dynamic, while also representing SZA’s distinctive personality. Being a historymaker also can’t be rushed, as there is a lot of responsibility that comes from being the very first of her title. From here on out, she sets the pace for others to follow.

A look at her campaign as Artistic Director will be revealed once she puts those finishing touches on her project. As the world waits to see what she has up her sleeves, her fans are overjoyed about her new opportunity:

“Werk !!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍,” music legend Erykah Badu commented underneath her announcement post.

“Literally the coolest thing ever I’m actually screaming,” one fan wrote.

“THE SERVE 🤧 does your resume extend 10+ pages m’aam? so insanely happy for you. ❤️,” another commenter proclaimed.
