Two days after Tyla was introduced as one of Variety’s three cover stars for their “Power of Young Hollywood” issue, the South African artist celebrated the feat in an outfit primed for a front-page feature.

Tyla graced the publication’s party in Los Angeles in a two-piece number from PALOMO’s Resort 2026 collection that was both visually dynamic and effortlessly chic. She paired a cropped, sleeveless baby blue button-up—which she only buttoned up to her neck—with a low-rise, bubble-hemmed mini skirt of the same hue. To complete the look, the artist added open-toed stiletto heels that matched the black bow detailing on her mini skirt, and leaf accessories in her hair, which she kept in a sleek bob.

Joining Finn Wolfhard and Sam Nivola with cover spots on the issue, Tyla gave the magazine some insight into her four-song EP WWP, which dropped back in late July, and hinted at another album in the works.

“I had more time to work on this album than I did the first, so I have a lot of songs. It feels really current—this time, I’m living what I’m singing, and it feels way more personal,” she told the publication in her cover story. “Way more like me.”

Additionally, the artist explained that her newest sound reflects where she is in her career, and—because of her immense growth since the debut of her 2023 breakout single “Water”—it may come as a surprise to fans of the multifaceted singer.

“I wanted to have music out there that felt like who I am right now,” she continued. “When the album comes, it’s going to be such a totally different vibe than what people are expecting.”

While we’ll have to hang tight until Tyla’s newest body of work is ready to reach nationwide audiences, we’ll have her 11-minute EP to hold us over, which features tracks titled “DYNAMITE,” “MR. MEDIA,” “IS IT” and “BLISS.” Joined by Nigerian artist Wizkid for “DYNAMITE”—the first track on the album—the singer gushed with excitement over the newly-released track.

“I feel so amazing,” Tyla told Variety on the carpet during last night’s event. “Just a song with Wizkid is insane, like, for the culture, for me as a huge Wizkid fan. It fell into place so natural; Wizkid is family.”

Variety’s “Power of Young Hollywood” party also aligned with the release of its Young Hollywood Impact Report 2025, which included a trio of SI Swimsuit models. See who made the list here.
