Miley Cyrus Sweetly Fangirls Over Mariah Carey at the Grammys
Mariah Carey presented Miley Cyrus with her first Grammy Award on Feb. 4, and it was a super exciting moment for both musicians.
The “All I Want For Christmas Is You” singer handed the “Flowers” artist her trophy for Best Pop Solo Performance for the Endless Summer Vacation single, which also won Record of the Year later in the evening. The two shared a sweet embrace and huge smiles on stage.
“This MC is gonna stand by this MC,” Cyrus began her speech, “because this is just too iconic.”
The 31-year-old mentioned that she was stuck in the Los Angeles rain and traffic and almost thought she might miss the first award of the night, which she noted was totally fine. But, missing out on Carey as the presenter was just not an option.
The Disney Channel alumna, who has starred in films like The Last Song, So Undercover and LOL, also paid tribute to the 54-year-old artist, who is a five-time Grammy Award winner herself, in an Instagram caption after the fact.
“I had all the perfect things to say but none of them could come out in this moment of shock. I’m happy they didn’t… because (thankfully) prepared perfection just isn’t my story. Life is so much more exciting this way. 🦋 Thank you @mariahcarey for being so iconic. MCxMC4EVR,” Cyrus wrote, while also thanking her family and members of her team. “I celebrate my fans above all else. No award means as much to me as the years we’ve spent together. You SAW me before this recognition. I never needed it because I HAVE YOU. A day doesn’t pass that I don’t spend at least a moment thanking heaven for sending me such supportive earth angels. I love you with my entire heart. To many more years together.”
“Congratulations! 🥳 I am so proud of you🥹 I was blown away by your beauty and confidence on stage last night!💫👸🏼💫 So inspiring💃🏼Love you🥰 💘,” Paris Hilton commented.
Cyrus performed “Flowers” at Sunday night’s event, and made headlines for both her Grammy wins and her five separate showstopping looks.
