While it took some getting used to, Melissa Wood-Tepperberg has embraced the cold plunge therapy wellness trend. The workout and wellness leader has come a long way since sharing her initial attempts last summer, and now, she’s offering up her advice for sticking with cold plunge therapy in order to reap the benefits.

In a Jan. 20 Instagram reel, the MWH founder noted that changing her mindset and practicing particular breathing techniques have both been instrumental in her practice.

“The second I stopped saying I can’t and told myself I can, I can & will continue to do very hard things (this was my mantra on repeat) - everything changed,” Wood-Tepperberg wrote in her caption. “That combined with nasal breathing (big shout out @breath_verse) helped me immediately regulate my system and master my mind.”

Alongside her insights, Wood-Tepperberg shared a snippet of herself and pal Kim Strother taking a cold plunge. The two women submerged themselves in ice cold water for six minutes, which the SI Swimsuit model noted in the video was her longest duration to date.

Wood-Tepperberg’s comment section was filled with support, while some fans sought out additional advice for their own practice.

“What temp do you do?” one person inquired, to which Wood-Tepperberg noted “this was 39 degrees.”

“This is so damn powerful and raw and honest and REAL 🔥,” another follower stated. “thank you for sharing!! ❤️.”

“I am so proud of you and you can do anything you put your mind to! (I’ve watched you do it countless times!!) 🙌🏼❤️👯‍♀️🥶,” Strother added.
