Alix Earle Tries to Replicate ‘DWTS’ Partner’s Finale Freestyle Move, and It’s Not As Easy As It Looks

Alix Earle is proving that you can take the girl out of Dancing With the Stars, but you can never take Dancing With the Stars out of the girl.
Last week, the popular content creator was officially crowned the runner-up of Season 34 on ABC’s popular hit program alongside her pro dancer partner, Val Chemerinsky, during the epic three-hour season finale, with Robert Irwin and Witney Carson taking home the coveted Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy. Still, Earle left the ballroom with plenty of reasons to celebrate.
For one, Earle and Chemerinsky were the only pair out of the remaining five duos to earn a perfect score across all three of their finale dances, taking the top spot on the last leaderboard with a flawless 90/90. Also, the pair’s incredible freestyle routine—a high-energy mix of dance styles set to a mashup of “Maneater” by Nelly Furtado and “Sports Car” by Tate McRae—was widely praised by the judges.
However, Earle took to her TikTok account this week to prove that, just because she and Chemerinsky made their dance moves look effortless, it doesn’t mean they actually were.
Knee walks are no joke
For the TikTok video, Earle attempted to replicate Chemerinsky’s “knee walks”—a move that’s been making the rounds on the app after the pro did them during their finale freestyle number—and things quickly took a turn for the humorous.
“We’ve seen everyone trying these knee walks, and it’s got to be video like 200 now that I’m like, ‘I’m gonna try them for myself,’” the content creator said to start the clip, setting up her camera for the shot before joking, “This just might be staying in the drafts.”
Earle then fully committed to the move, sliding forward on her knee and immediately slipping, hitting the floor in a fit of laughter. She made several more attempts at the move, adding a clip from “Maneater” to give viewers the full Chemerinsky experience. “Why is this way harder than I thought?” She asked mid-attempt, ending the video by admitting, “Honestly? I thought that would be easier.”

Fans & famous friends react
Earle’s comment section on the video—which has over 3.1 million views at the time of this article’s publication—was a collection of fans and famous friends, all coming together to crack up over the humorous, gallant attempt:
“I couldn’t be more proud 😂,” Chemerinsky wrote.
“‘There’s Alix out there. I’m gunna go get her’ hahahahha,” fellow Season 34 contestant quoted.
“Your knees banging against the floor 😳😳😳,” DWTS pro Alan Bersten added.
“so glad this made it out of the drafts,” one fan concluded.
